Role in the project

TIME4CS Team

Kaunas University of Technology is the largest technical university in the Baltic States. It has 9 faculties and 9 research institutes, offers Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degree programmes. The University seeks to become a strong science and innovation university, where the university studies are based on study and scientific research symbiosis. The mission of Kaunas University of Technology is to provide research- based studies of international level, to create and to transfer knowledge and innovative technologies for sustainable development and innovative growth of the country, to provide an open creative environment that inspires leaders and talented individuals.

Although the development of CS in Lithuania is just in the early adoption stage, University is already implementing projects on CS (e.g. national project “Citizen Science as an Innovative Form of Citizen Participation for Welfare Society Development”) and is a part of international networks on CS (e.g. ECSA, Cost action “Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy, and innovation throughout Europe”).

KTU’s role within the TIME4CS project is that of an Implementer - a beneficiary who is still in early stages of the implementation of Institutional Changes to support Citizen Science and is willing to face the challenge of introducing Citizen Science activities into its structures.

In the framework of the project KTU will be involved in various tasks across all Work Packages. Some of these activities include design tailored roadmaps in order to implement specific Grounding Actions for strengthening Citizen Science within the institution, knowledge sharing and mutual learning programme, and building capacities within institutions to engage and support Citizen Science activities. KTU will also lead a task within Work Package 2 - Roadmap framework leading to institutional changes.
