TIME4CS Report on Knowledge Transfer from Front-Runners to Implementers Now Available
The methodology of the TIME4CS project strongly relies on the knowledge transfer between institutions with previous experience in Citizen Science (Front-Runners) and those that are at an early stage of adoption (Implementers). The knowledge and experience of Front-Runners is important to help and advise in the elaboration of tailored roadmaps for each Implementer. These roadmaps include the implementation of previously identified Grounding Actions, i.e. concrete actions that are recommended to be undertaken in order to achieve Institutional Change.
As part of this mutual learning program, each of the three Front-Runner institutions organised a workshop in October and November 2021. They were the kick-off of a support effort from Front-Runners to Implementers that will continue throughout the project activities, ensuring Implementers a privileged contact with and access to the Front-Runner’s know-how, lessons learned and success factors. Such support will enhance Implementer’s capacity based on their concrete needs.
The main objectives of the workshops were to:
provide three well planned and dedicated occasions to strengthen the ongoing exchanges, communication, and active knowledge transfer between Front-Runners and Implementers
share best practices and practical suggestions regarding the specific Grounding Actions by Front-Runners
give Implementers the opportunity to discuss the challenges they are facing while implementing their roadmaps individually with the Front-Runners
build a trustful relationship among partners.
The outcome of the workshops is summarised in the “TIME4CS Knowledge Transfer from Front-Runners to Implementers” report. The document outlines the most relevant and recurring questions and challenges and the respective answers by the experts. In fact, the report illustrates best practices which are crucial for any institution that wants to implement Institutional Changes and to promote Citizen Science.
